Hi everyone in Presentation Group 4,
I didn't put these links up in the previous post, so here they are to help you for your presentations next week. You can of course use other resources you find, but remember to include them all in your bibliographies.

I've found a few useful links for your presentations next week. Have a look at them and think how you can relate them to what you have to produce. Remember, you need to credit your sources in a bibliography.
Thanks,
David

Worksheet from Class, w/c 12/1/15
Semester 1 Final Pieces of Work – Compare and Contrast Essay and Group Presentation
We are now nearing the end of the semester and our
current analysis of Islam, Hinduism, and some of the issues related to Social
Studies in the world today. There are
still 2 pieces of work to hand in that will be done in these final few weeks of
the semester.
1.
Compare and Contrast Essay
·
You
already have been given the instructions and I have checked everyone’s planning
(Brainstorming and Outline in notebook) that was handed in.
·
After
having analysed the work I have decided to double the weight of the planning
part of the essay, so it will now count for 30% and not 15%. I will simply double the grade that I already
have. I appreciate that this was a
slightly more difficult task than I originally envisaged, so feel it is worthy
of this extra weight.
·
If
I have not seen your planning you will not be able to begin writing the
essay.
·
Due
to the limited time we have a 1st draft will not be compulsory. However, if you would like to do one for me
to check in the next few days, I will check it and give it back to you with
feedback.
·
The
essay should be handed in (word processed and printed out) during class on Thursday 22nd January (7B) and Friday 23rd
January (7A and 7C). NO USB sticks!
·
Remember
to use the key transition words I will give you during class, and also pay
attention to the plagiarism guidelines that we will also cover in class.
2. Group Presentation about an assigned topic to do with Current Religious
Intolerance Issues
·
You
will be organized into groups and have to prepare a presentation on ONE assigned topic to do with
religious intolerance in the world today.
1.
Charlie
Hebdo terrorist attack in Paris, 2015
2.
Israel
and Palestine War in the Gaza Strip, 2014
3.
Boko
Haram Nigeria Massacre, 2015
4.
Sunnis
and Shiites Conflict, Iraq
5.
Tibet
and China
6.
Rise
of the Golden Dawn party in Greece, 2014
·
You
should research about your topic and prepare a Powerpoint presentation on your ,
explaining what has happened, why it is significant and why it is relevant to
the world we live in today.
·
You
should also prepare a poster with the key information and images which will
then be displayed in the classroom.
·
You
will have time in class next week to prepare the presentation and poster, so
bring materials to do so. (laptop, coloured card, information etc.)
·
The
presentations will be in the final week of the semester beginning Monday 25th
January. Your presentation should be
ready before the class starts!
·
Your
group presentation should last approximately 10 minutes and everyone in the
group must speak.
·
Remember,
your slides should be clear, easy to read on the TV and have no
plagiarism! You may credit your sources,
images and other information in a bibliography.
·
Good
luck!

New 7th Grade Social Studies Blog!
Hello all,
Welcome to the new blog for 7th Grade Social Studies at Colegio Jefferson, Cali, Colombia. I'll upload as many of the resources we use in class as possible, as well as a few extra interesting things, and of course the homework assignments so that you have access to all the materials that are relevant for your studies. The blog will prove extremely useful if you miss class and I also recommend checking it every few days in your free time to check you're on top of things and as organised as possible. Hopefully you'll all use it as a source of autonomous learning for your inquisitive minds as well! If there are any questions, speak to me at school or drop me an email at dprocter@jefferson.edu.co
Thanks!
